Chuck Schumer Says He’s Working With McConnell to Stop “MAGA Republicans” – But Won’t Commit to Ditching Extreme-Left AOC

(NRPI.ORG) – Following the outcome of the midterm elections, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer indicated on CNN’s “This Morning” that he was meeting with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to persuade Republican senators to abandon MAGA Republicans.

Schumer said that he was going to tell Senate Republicans who aren’t a part of the MAGA Republicans, to stop allowing them lead their party. He wants them to join the Democrats and expects Mitch McConnell to agree to discuss that.

About his own party, Schumer said, “I’m going to say to my party, ‘We are not going to get everything we want; we’re going to have to compromise,’ But it is a lot better to accomplish something than to just make a mark.”

He intends to tell McConnell that they should be collaborating in this endeavor to keep the fanatics (MAGA) in the Republican party from trying to get anything done.

Don Lemon questioned, “I’m wondering what is different?” He said that they have tried that before.

The difference is because they lost. Schumer thinks that because the red wave was a mirage, the non-MAGA Republicans are terrified. MAGA is attempting to destroy our democracy.

Schumer also believes that by researching the results of the elections for the House and the Senate, it is clear that the Republican strategy of MAGA did not succeed. The MAGA candidate for the Republican party came in last, losing in every category. A successful leader of the Republican Party would tell his followers that continuing to work with them will lead to disaster.

Chuck Schumer has been very vocal about getting rid of the MAGA movement and weaken the Senators elected to push America First policies. He stated, “If you embrace MAGA you’re going to keep losing, you’re going to lose more. The embrace of MAGA in 2018, 2020, and ‘22 didn’t work,”. A point that Schumer seems to be missing is that he thinks that MAGA is attempting to destroy our democracy but has done nothing about those in his own party who are extreme-left candidates who have no intention of crossing over for compromise.
